Botswana

Botswana is one among Africa’s most popular tourist attractions, spanning 600 370km2 (231,788 miles2). It  is located in southern Africa, slightly north of South Africa, and is bordered by South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It has a population of more than 1.5 million people.

Botswana has a wide range of wildlife habitats. There are grasslands and savannas where blue wildebeest, antelopes, and other creatures and birds can be found, in addition to the delta and desert habitats. Northern Botswana is home to one of the last sizable groups of the critically endangered African wild dog. Chobe National Park in the Chobe District is home to the world’s greatest population of African elephants. The park encompasses around 11,000 km2 (4,247 sq mi) and is home to approximately 350 bird species.

There are two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Botswana: Tsodilo and the Okavango Delta. Tsodilo contains one of the world’s highest concentrations of rock art, with paintings and carvings dating back over 100,000 years. The Okavango Delta is one of the planet’s largest inland deltas, a unique watery maze of channels and islands that supports a remarkably diverse ecosystem. This wildlife-rich wetland oasis, flowing into the Kalahari Desert, provides critical habitat for endangered species such as wild dogs and cheetahs. The striking beauty and biodiversity of the Okavango draw visitors from around the world to experience its natural splendor on wildlife safaris and ecotours.

The Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve (in the Okavango Delta) are major tourist destinations..

There are seven National Parks and Game Reserves in Botswana. These are Mabuasehube (part of Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park), Khutse Game Reserve, Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Nxai Pan National Park, Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park (which is often split into the Chobe Riverfront and Savuti). Although not a national park or game reserve, Khwai Community Concession is a large protected wilderness area of Botswana.

Botswana is unique when it comes to safari exclusivity; most of the time, it’s just you, a game drive vehicle, and the natural world. A remarkable experience is in store for you, whether you’re in the desert, on a mokoro (a traditional dug-out canoe), or staring into the eyes of a male lion feasting on a carcass: a memorable experience awaits you. And our team of experts are ready to guide you every step of the way in creating your safari.
